Mara Okonkwo is an essayist and cultural historian based in London, where she writes about archives, institutional memory, and the politics of preservation. Her reporting has appeared in The Dial, Artforum, and frieze. Her essay collection "Keeping House" won the Hartwick Prize for cultural criticism. A British-Nigerian writer, Okonkwo studied at SOAS and has held fellowships at the British Library and the Institute of Contemporary Culture. Her work traces how institutions shape identity and belonging, particularly in postcolonial contexts.
